Our Mission

The mission of the Africa Arts Association is to preserve, promote, and celebrate the diversity of African arts and culture while fostering cross-cultural understanding and appreciation.

Our Vision

The Africa Arts Association aims to promote African arts and culture. It seeks to showcase the diversity of African artistic expressions, facilitate international exposure for African artists, and promote cross-cultural understanding through creative partnerships.

Membership

Interested members must be involved in the African arts community as professional artists, community artists, performing artists, teaching artists or arts-based researchers. Members will pay an annual fee and membership will be cancelled upon failure to pay or renew membership or if a member fails to uphold the Africa Arts Association’s (AfrAA) code of conduct. Members are encouraged to attend general assembly meetings and AfrAA events.

Special membership launch fee: US$ 20 (valid for 2024 only)

Annual membership fee from January 2025 (including membership renewal between January and March 2025): US$ 30

Rights and responsibilities of AfrAA members:

AfrAA members have the right to:

  1. Attend general assembly meetings and to participate in the Association’s decision-making process during general meetings.
  2. To utilize the organization’s resources, such as its network, information, and opportunities created through workshops, conferences and events.
  3. To seek guidance from the organization’s leadership and other members.
  4. To express their opinions and ideas freely, as long as they are respectful and aligned with the organization’s mission and values.
  5. To be recognized and appreciated for their contributions to the organization.

AfrAA members are responsible for:

  1. Paying annual membership fees on time and fulfilling any other financial obligations you may have to the organization.
  2. Attending general assembly meetings.
  3. Attending AfrAA events.
  4. Actively contributing to the organization’s mission and goals.
  5. Upholding the organization’s code of conduct and ethical standards
  6. Treating other members with respect and professionalism.
  7. Protecting the organization’s reputation and interests and avoid conflicts of interest or other actions that may harm the organization.
  8. Participating in advocacy initiatives and community outreach programs and promoting the organization’s mission and values in your interactions with others.

The Africa Arts Association (AfrAA) is a non-profit organization committed to promoting, preserving, and celebrating African arts and culture.  AfrAA’s primary objectives are to maintain, promote, and develop the practice, understanding, and appreciation of the arts among the people of Africa and its surrounding regions. To this end, the Association aims:

AfrAA is committed to fostering advocacy, raising awareness, and improving arts communities by working with other organizations with similar goals. The Association operates as a non-profit organization, and profits or accretions are used solely to promote its aims.
